Back again with another edition of HHFA, our third volume.  Pusha-T dropped a new mixtape recently and the thing is pretty much fire all the way through.  Of course, the now solo rapper signed to GOOD Music is at his truest form with Kanye on the production.  The beat on Touch It is simple, but the light guitar is addicting.  I’m not sure if the message of this song is for the “grown and sexy” – we might have to create a new tag…

Touch It – Pusha T feat. Kanye West

After a slight lull by the west-coast mastermind Snoop, he’s back and all over mixtapes.  His newest joint with T-Pain is yet another banger, and it really can’t be debated that the auto-tune maestro is now at the top of hip-hop hook making.  In this crazy world of five second snippets and one-click downloads, T-Pain has supplanted Nate Dogg (RIP) and Akon (not dead, but RIP) as the go-to guy for making a rap chorus viable.  Key Line: “They do it for fortune/Some for fame/I got five different strands/You ever taste purple rain?”

BOOM – Snoop Dogg feat. T-Pain

Big K.R.I.T. is the next big thing in southern rap, a genre that has been wallowing since T.I.’s departure from Atlanta’s true roots.  He blew up SXSW this year and has a lot of respect floating around out there from big names – it’ll be interesting to see who really blows up first: Big K.R.I.T. or Jay Electronica? Key Line: “An A+R once told me he could determine the worth of a song within 15 seconds of it playin’/With complete and utter lack of the fact that it takes ALL 3 minutes and 40 seconds of a song to comprehend what I’m sayin’”

Don’t know much about Classified but I’m liking the drum machine and sample on this track.  He’s got a good flow, and reminds me a little of Obie Trice.  He’s also humble: “And don’t be mad cuz I never pop bottles/I don’t waste my money/I save my money/Returning popped bottles/Don’t hate.”
That Ain’t Classy – Classified

Bombay Bassment is the truth, coming all the way from Bombay, India! This beat is got that true funk feel, and everybody knows rapping over horns and a funky bass = victory.  I’m really excited to see what’s up with them in 2011 – check out their website and enjoy the musical globalization!
