I’ve been watching London-based shoegaze indie-rockers Yuck for a while now. They have been releasing random singles and videos for the past year; all with bizarre cover art. Finally the day has come and they have released their debut full length self-titled album, complete with more strange art. Unlike the ugly artwork, the tracks are wonderfully crafted, filled with grungy distortion and airy vocals throughout. I don’t think I’ll buy into the hype of Yuck causing a ‘revolutionary showgaze revival,’ as some blogs and forums have put it, but I will state that this is a fantastic album with not a single track that creates the slightest urge to hit the skip button midway through. They hit the classic roots of shoegaze-style rock from before their time effortlessly…hard to believe they are all 20. Some tracks that I thought stood out to show off their talent include “Georgia,” “Get Away,” “Operation,” and “Rubber.” The entire album can be streamed from their blog or grabbed from Fat Possum Records (who have maybe the strangest ‘about’ section for Yuck ever). Hope the killer shoegaze makes up for this thunder-snowy (spring?) Wednesday. Check out the bonus and video after the jump!

Here’s the video for their song Rubber, which is featured as the closing track of the album. The vid is strange as the the theme goes, and involves the mastery of dog grooming along with some mild nudity (most-likely NSFW, here’s your warning)
