Last week we went to see noise-pop renegades Sleigh Bells at Webster Hall in the East Village, and man do they slay (sorry, too easy). Although this wasn’t the first time we have seen them, they always manage to put on a killer show. First time we saw them was on Governor’s Island for HARD Fest where MIA pissed off most of NYC. But on a positive note Sleigh Bells came on stage just as we got onto the island and we could hear them clearly from almost a half mile away down at the ferry pier. When we actually got to the stage it felt like the bass was coming from a subwoofer that I unknowingly swallowed…and this was before I even grabbed a drink! Keep in mind this was outdoors; now that is a loud show…well (unfortunately?) they were not able to blow out our ear drums, and that would bring us to back to Webster. These guys know how to turn the bass up to 10 and get the place bouncing like nobody’s business. Sleigh Bells started it off heavy, coming out to “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath and smoothly transitioning into their opening song, “Crown On The Ground”…it was badass to say the least. The energy of both the crowd, Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller was intense. I always thinks it makes a huge difference when the crowd is completely enthralled by the show and just goes nuts..mission accomplished here. They pretty much went through all of Treats and threw “Holly” into the mix to replace “Run The Heart.” I gotta say that I was genuinely disappointed when the show ended; I thought it was too short, almost like a tease of something more to come. However, soon after, I realized they only had two other songs in their discography that they didn’t play (“Run The Heart” and “2HELLWU”), so I really had nothing to complain about. The show lasted about an hour (not including CSS and the openers). I’m sure when they get some more tracks in the bank, their shows will blow up even more and I’ll leave with a more satisfying feeling. In reality though, it turns out that finishing with “A/B Machines” just got me so pumped up I craved more. We here at eavesdr0p cannot wait to see what is coming up next from Sleigh Bells. Rumor has it they are going to the studio back in June or July this year.

The video I took turned out awful, this one from youtube is (slightly) better of their first song.
