So in today’s quest to find some new music I figured it was about time to sort through the insane amount of soundcloud tracks that have recently been sent to us. Boy was I happy to find this gem known by the name Manwomanchild. They self-describe themselves as having a 70′s glam-rock style sound and I’d say that’s pretty spot on, yet hitting a more modern re-creation of it by adding in synths and complex lyrics. Their debut self-titled album was released in December of 2010 and is filled with tracks featuring their style of intricate lyrics and heavy melodic hooks. Many of the tracks give off a poppy feeling that makes you bop along, but never strays too far from their rock backing. There is a nice mix of guitar driven tracks and well blended synths. Some of these more heavy guitar driven tracks include “Marshall Street” and “Day of Reckoning”. While, “Neon Child” and “The Life and Times of Alexander Quick” blend more synths in a gentle, yet dramatic way to boost their rock-bound sound. Manwomanchild is still streaming their full album on their official site, you can get directly to the stream here. Check out their new music video for “Reasons” below. It’s wonderfully bizarre and involves music opening portals to banish sea-monsters. I know, now you have to watch! Manwomanchild is available from iTunes and Amazon MP3.
